Welcome to Bearhug Kennels - home of the Big, Bold and Beautiful Alaskan Malamutes since 1981. Located in Dundalk, Ontario (Canada) and owned and operated by Jorge De Andrade. When we plan our breeding program, we look for breeding stock that is true to breed type, that possess excellent movement, and are of sound mind and body. They must be three generations clear of Coat Funk, Diabetes, and be OFA (good or excellent) and CERF certified. Our breeding program welcomes all colours, which are outlined in the breed standard.
Bearhug Kennels has been affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada since 1987 and with the Canadian Kennel Club “CKC” since 1982.
We show (in conformation) periodically around the year, in order to promote the breed and upcoming breeding stock. We are also active in the development of our Pigmy Goats, Calico Sheep, Toulouse Geese and Heritage Golden Bronze Turkeys that demand a great deal of time and care as well.

Before you consider buying one of our puppies, please ask yourself, if you are ready for a ten to twelve year commitment. If you are a couple, we ask that you double check with each other, as to make sure that your relationship/lifestyle is ready for such a commitment. There is no going back on your lifetime commitment to your dog. This statement may sound harsh but it is our experience, over the years that ninety percent of all dogs that are no longer wanted, is due to couples separating or making major lifestyles changes.
Please think hard and long, before adopting one of our puppies/dogs, as they need permanent loving homes for their entire life!

With any long term breeding program, the goal is to improve each generation. In the art of breeding dogs, one will find much joy and personal rewards and at times major disappointments. One must always remember that there is “no perfect dog” in this world. The “perfect dog” is yet to be born.
We hope that you have enjoyed viewing our website and obtained an insight into the development of the Bearhug Bloodline. |
No Bearhug bred puppy or dog is never to be abandoned at a shelter. If for any reason you can longer keep the dog at any point in their life, they must be returned to us as outlined on our contract. As experts on our breed and the dogs bred by us, we will then take the appropriate measures to find the dog a new forever home. If the dog cannot be rehomed they shall live with us until the end of their days.
